無限の可能性が生み出す希望と絶望

無限は君が思っているほど大きいとは限らない

Q:可能性が無限として、その中にあなたが探しているものは必ず見つかるか?

私の8歳の娘にもわかる反証をしてみよう。ある国では、偶数の番号札を持っている人には必ず年金を出す事にしている。出生時に番号札は必ず渡される。あなたもそれを持っている。そこには見間違えようのない自然数が書いてある。あなたは年金をもらえるだろうか?

そこに奇数の番号が書いてあったら、答えはNo、だ。国が無限の予算を持っていても、あなたが年金をもらうことはない。これは、「無限の可能性が、解の存在を保証しない」一番トリビアルな例。

無限の可能性について語りたいのであれば、この文章に「ただし、番号札は何度でも貰うことができる」という一文を追加したほうがいいんじゃないかと思うんだけど、どうだろう？　
もっとも、この条件が付け加えられたとしても

悲観論者「それでも偶数札が持てることは保証されてはいないじゃないか！　絶望した！」
楽観論者「それならいつかきっと偶数札を持てるようになるんだ！」

といったように、人によって捉え方は違ってくるだろうけどね。
